The process began in the beginning of October: we tore off the old rotted ties--threw them in the rented dumpster and waited for the sun to shine...October was the wettest in history, here in good old Missouri! We had over 11 inches of rain. So we waited...
The November sun came! We had a straight full week of sunshine! Nov. 4 th was the big day! To aid us in our creative quest, we had our good friend Rick Rahm of Rahm Landscaping, to help us out and get the foundation laid so we could build a structurally sound and level wall. Mark, a friend of Rick's came, w/ his Bobcat and dug the trenches. He also made another of my Dad's dreams come true: leveling the useless drain cover in our backyard. It has been useless for over 20 years, the Missouri Sewer District said we could do what we wanted with it, we've decided to build a patio over the top of it!!!
Nov. 5th & 6th: Rick and Dave worked side by side on the wall. The labor was tedious, tough, and slow going. Sat. the 7th arrived. The day was gorgeous...it was time to HIT IT...and WE did! We recruited our neighbors and friends to help us out. They made miracles happen. Our wall is nearly complete! Dave will work on the staircase next Saturday, and we still have to do the finishing details, but let me tell you! It is AMAZING! Our yard has never looked so good, so grand, so majestic! It is thrilling to see our dreams coming true! Our vision is to build a patio on top of the "curve" put a fire pit up there, and PARTY! Check out the pics in our album!
